## Overview

FarmPro is a specialist animal health platform supporting farmers and advisors with evidence-based parasite management. By combining diagnostic testing with clear reporting, FarmPro helps shift the industry away from routine blanket treatments toward more targeted, sustainable animal health decisions.

As demand for diagnostic services increased, FarmPro partnered with Infainite to modernise their operational systems, creating a scalable, reliable platform capable of supporting national growth while remaining practical for use in real farm and laboratory environments.

## The Challenge

### Growing demand, manual coordination

FarmPro’s services rely on coordinating Faecal Egg Counts (FEC), Larval Culture testing, and follow-up reporting across farms, laboratories, and advisors. As volumes increased, these workflows were managed through spreadsheets, emails, and manual hand-offs.

While workable at small scale, this approach created increasing pressure:

* Manual data entry across collection, testing, and reporting
* Limited visibility of sample status and task ownership
* High administrative overhead during peak seasons
* Heavy reliance on key individuals to coordinate workflows

To continue supporting more farmers and expand into additional species and services, FarmPro needed a system that could manage complexity without increasing operational burden.

## The Partnership

### Turning operational knowledge into a scalable platform

Infainite worked closely with FarmPro to understand how work actually happens, from farm visits to lab benches to reporting conversations with farmers.

Rather than digitising existing spreadsheets, the focus was on designing a **system-managed workflow** that could coordinate people, data, and tasks across the full diagnostic lifecycle.

The goal was to reduce reliance on individual memory and experience, while preserving the clinical rigour required in animal health diagnostics.

## The Solution

### A system-managed, integrated animal health platform

### End-to-End Workflow Management

We mapped the full ontology of FarmPro’s diagnostic process, from sample collection through testing and reporting, and implemented it as a **system-managed workflow**.

The platform now:

* Defines each stage of the process
* Presents clear, role-specific tasks to staff
* Manages hand-offs between collection, testing, validation, and reporting

This ensures consistency, reduces errors, and allows staff with varying levels of experience to work confidently within a guided system.

### Integrated Testing and Monitoring

Disconnected tools were replaced with a unified workflow supporting:

* Sample collection and registration
* Faecal Egg Count (FEC) testing
* Larval Culture analysis
* Result validation and reporting
* Automated 12-month monitoring plans

The system actively guides users through each step, providing clarity on what needs to happen next and who is responsible.

### Integrated Animal Health Context

Beyond individual tests, the platform provides a shared **animal health workspace**, organising key information at a mob level and mapping it to critical phases of the production year.

This includes:

* FEC and Larval Culture results
* Body Condition Scores
* Animal weights
* Liver fluke and other health indicators

By presenting this information together in a time-based view, the platform provides immediate visibility into how diagnostic results relate to animal condition and performance, supporting more informed, timely decisions.

#### Advanced Trend Analysis and Insights

Building on the FEC workflow, the platform now provides advanced trend analysis across the farm, as well as regional and national benchmarking. This enables users to gain deeper insights into parasite issues, track trends over time, and understand how their farm compares to broader patterns. Persistent analytics help identify emerging risks and support evidence-based decision-making at every level.

### Assisted Automation

To reduce manual effort while maintaining confidence in results, assisted automation was introduced directly into the workflow:

* **Azure Document Intelligence** extracts data from laboratory reports
* **Human-in-the-loop review steps** ensure accuracy and traceability
* **Language models** generate clear, farmer-friendly summaries from diagnostic data

Automation supports staff without removing oversight, helping maintain trust and data quality.

### Mobile-First Reporting

The platform is designed for use directly from a mobile phone, allowing staff to:

* View results in real time
* Add observations while on farm
* Share reports instantly with farmers and farm managers

Reporting becomes part of the workflow, rather than an end-of-day or end-of-week administrative task. This significantly reduces time spent on paperwork and increases time available on farm, supporting more effective engagement with farmers.

### Scalable Cloud Architecture

The system was built on Microsoft Azure with a focus on reliability and future growth:

* Mobile-first web application for field and lab use
* Elastic infrastructure that scales during seasonal peaks
* Flexible data models designed for multi-species support
* Enterprise-grade security and identity management

The platform is designed to scale nationally without requiring re-architecture.

---

## The Outcome

### A platform built for sustainable growth

FarmPro now operates on a unified, system-managed platform that supports increasing volumes of diagnostic work without increasing operational complexity.

Key outcomes include:

* Reduced manual coordination and administrative effort
* Clear task ownership and visibility across workflows
* Improved consistency and accuracy in diagnostics and reporting
* Ability to support more farms with existing team capacity
* Greater freedom for leadership to focus on strategic growth

Most importantly, the organisation can spend more time supporting farmers and less time managing internal processes.

## Looking Ahead

With a scalable digital foundation in place, FarmPro is well positioned to expand into additional species, deepen analytics, and continue supporting evidence-based animal health practices across New Zealand.

What began as an operational improvement has become a long-term platform for animal health management.
